It Is Key To Remember History

By Charleco Scipio

“Why do we need to learn history? It’s irrelevant. Useless, I’m never going to use it in any job.” Say the ignorant of my generation. Please forgive them Father, for they know nothing of what they speak. History is knowledge. Knowledge is power. Interpreting the past will remove obstructions on the path to the future. Last I checked, the future is very important.
So let’s take a look back. A whole century. So much has happened. The start of this magnificent century saw humans at their most intelligent. Birds had human companions in the skies. Leave it to the Wright’s to get it right. Hey, what if I wanted to put a gun on that plane?
You mean use the plane as a mobile weapon?
Precisely.
Other lunch time talks sounded something like “ I heard someone lit the powder keg in Europe.”
“I heard the same. We could make big money in the market of war, those Germans couldn’t build a box.”
“We’ll start production next week.”
All of a sudden some Americans end up at the wrong place at the wrong time, on to war we go. Trenches are the best place to be solider. No Man’s land isn’t the popular hangout spot. 11:11 really is lucky when it comes to armistice. I didn’t want to shoot you any way you foreign bastard! I guess we laughed our way into our 20’s. Our youth was roaring. And Congress just wanted some placid and quiet. Stop you alcoholics! Have you no morals?! What is this country coming to?
On the economic side, you give me that couch now, and I’ll shoot you the money next week when I get paid, that is granted, that I actually do get paid this week, who knows? My boss is a wacko. No money makes people a little sad. Too bad there is no remedy for worldwide depression.
Hey wait a second. The Jews are doing just fine! Why is it they aren’t worried? Hitler says they’re the reasons for this depression. You think so? Well, they must be, look at them! They’re just fine. And so it became the fault of the Jews. Let it go down in history books.
Hey what else did that Adolf fellow say?
He said we should rid ourselves of this infestation.
One too many people agreed with each other.
We have a certain taste in war. We crave it. It flows through our blood. Round two in the World Arena started in Europe. Evilness, Madness, and Hatred can inspire a man so much that he takes the wheel and steers a nation with the words of his mouth. Adolf is an outstanding driver. This skill was seen on a vast level.
One in Spain,
One in Italy,
One in Japan.
Meanwhile in America, a moral civil war occurs. “We should not interfere with the affairs of Europe! If they want to take the taxi cab straight to hell then let them!” “Well I’ll be damned if I’m going to let those crazy Nazis and damn communists take over!” “I hear if it’s up to Congress we won’t be fighting at all.” And we didn’t. The Japanese smiled and talked peace while they held a loaded pistol behind their back. When they shot they hit us right in the harbor. Were we surprised? Yes.
“It’s going to take 3 months to rebuild these ships.”
“We’ll have it done in 2 days.”
Anger is a powerful incentive.
Across the U.S. colored men were in supreme confusion. “Let me get this straight, you want me to fight for YOUR freedom? Damn your freedom, when am I going to get mine?” “When I get shot by one of them Japs you can write on my tombstone: ‘Here lies a black man, died fighting a yellow man, for the freedom of a white man.’” America underestimated the color on its face.
The Army went sky diving in Normandy. The Marines went to play on the pacific beaches. We stopped Hitler. His regime met the power of U.S. man power. In the Pacific, the Japanese did not seem to have “Surrender” in their vernacular. But Einstein and a few other wiz kids informed us that Nuclear Radiation is a great teacher.
“General the scientists all agree we should demonstrate to the Japanese the vast power we hold, there is no need to kill innocent millions.”
“We aren’t trying to preserve lives. We are trying to make a statement, not only to the Japanese but to the World! Don’t, f*** with us. Drop the bombs on the selected cities.” Thus the message was received, worldwide. Russia heard and smiled “ Anything you can do I can do better!” then it got cold and we fought a silent war while trying to win a race of the arms.
They say “We’ll level your cities.”
We reply “We’ll level your nation”
They say “We’ll level your continent”
Our reply “We’ll level the Hemisphere.”
So we played a mirror game. Vietnam to Korea. Red isn’t our favorite color. Neither is black really. "Why do they have rights, they should be treated like animals!" Oh and they were treated like animals. “Ok we’ll give you MLK if you just stop with the extreme measures.” But they took JFK too. They weren't sticking to the agenda.
And so the world saw 2000, they also saw what happens when a plane collides with a building. “Why did we use a van last time? We should have decided to use the planes years ago!” Oh the craziness just heats up. War on Terror, War on drugs, who are you even fighting anymore?? You fools!
History is key to not making past mistakes. It is the way we will navigate through a future that can not be foreseen . It is far from useless.
