Good Kid M.A.A.D City

By Gary Lee
I would like to start this off by congratulating Kendrick Lamar for putting together probably the best album I've ever heard, as a young black male living in Los Angeles and loving my city. I understood every word that was said on this record. For the people who don't live in California, Kendrick did a good job taking their mind and ears on a ride through Compton. This album has a story that everyone who lives in a hood can relate to, from homies getting killed to just trying to hook up with the one girl from the hood. Everybody has been though a certain scenario that plays in this album. K. Dot also brings some heavy features as well, like label mate and 1/4th of Black Hippy Jay Rock, YMCMB's Drake, and Kendrick was even able to get his mentor Dr. Dre on a track entitled Compton, which is one of my favorite tracks. As the media only speaks on the negativity about Compton, Kendrick still sees the beauty in his city and prides himself and Dr. Dre for making it out and doing something with their lives.

I see this album as a movie with the picture off but the sound on. The skits in the album are perfect. Its like Boys In The Hood meets Friday. Good Kid M.A.A.D City is worth the money so go out and support the album and go get it.
