Last week, Top Dawg Entertainment's newest member, Isaiah Rashad, released his debut project Cilvia. The 14 track EP taught us more about the rapper. Last October, I read that TDE signed a new Artist, before that anything the label released I hopped on. If ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Kendrick, or Jay-Rock released any material I was one of the first to be blasting it out of my '04 Intrepid, so when I read that they had a new artist I took to YouTube do my research. I didn't come across much but a few videos, like his TDE introduction Video "Shot You Down" which was remixed for the album and now features label mates Q and Jay-Rock. The EP also features Jean Deaux, the up and coming Artist and Director from Chicago, IL.

After listening to this album back to back I'm positive Isaiah could hold his own against King Kendrick and his other label mates but only them against the whole current Hip-Hop roster. Cilvia is just one of 6 projects Top Dawg Entertainment plans to release this year, with ScHoolboy Q's Oxymoron looking like a Feb 25th release and Ab-Soul announcing he's up next after Q, Cilvia will not be the only piece of work you here Isaiah Rashad on.

Everyday technology is advancing. Today we see advancements in technology our ancestors would never believe possible. Life is becoming seemingly easier and easier as new devices, apps and operating systems come into existence. Vast amounts of information are available at our finger tips, our friends and family are only a click away. Machines can now do what took 2-3 people to do. Yes, essentially less work for you. But is this technological future all bliss?

There are many people who are inadvertently becoming addicted to technology. You have the individuals whose first contact in the morning is with a piece of tech. There are those who can't go 5 minutes in a social setting without looking at their phone. Then there are the ones who are just glued to their phone or tablet, 24/7. No one cares to remember information that was once revered and taught, simply because if they need to pull it up it's right at their thumbs. Most people don't go deeper than their social media profile. Kendrick Lamar put it perfectly:

"...So what's your calling?

Oh, You left your phone behind? Identity Crisis"

These days the phase "Down to Earth" means a whole lot more. People are putting their whole identities on their smart devices and social profiles, were they to lose the device they are essentially losing themselves. It is becoming increasingly acceptable to disconnect from the real world and stay connected on some device. You can hardly have a conversation without the interuption of some piece of technology. Seeing this a lot more lately begs me to ask the question: What is the cause of this growing disconnect?

Loneliness

So I did some research, and to my great suprise I wasnt the only one noticing these frightening changes. I came across a TED.com Talk by Author and Professor Sherry Turkle called "Connected, but alone?" and she laid out the bottom line completely.

"We're getting used to a new way of being alone, together."

The perfect example of where we're headed: Spike Jonez's new film Her, Joaquin Phoenix. At first glance this looks like a film about a man falling in love with his operating system. As Gizmodo Writer, Adam Clark Estes put it in his film review of Her:

"Its a movie about the loneliness we all share and our increasingly futile attempt to pacify that yearning with technology. When we're alone these days, we typically don't embrace the silence and think about things. We instinctively reach for our phones..."

And he is spot on. Having broken my phone, I realized how often I reach for it. I look around and I see how often other people reach for theirs. It happens in every social situation. In board room meetings, in classrooms, in conversations with family and friends, on the elevator, on the bus, at family dinner.

"Being alone feels like a problem that needs to be solved so we try to solve it by connecting."

Says Sherry Turkle, and I agree. Never before in history has being alone been a problem in society. Before people would use the time alone to learn more about themselves, to ponder and wonder about all types of things, to think!

This fear of being alone is being passed on to the next generations. Its not odd to see a child today with a more up to date smartphone than the one you have in your pocket. Children are not learning how to have real conversations. Social situations are becoming more and more awkward and difficult for them. Nothing can replace the social interaction of a real conversation. Nothing.

There is an increasing lack of humanity as we move forward with new technological advancements. We're OK with just commenting on a status. We're OK with just replying to a tweet. We're OK having whole "conversations" through text. As Sherry Turkle put it: "The illusion of companionship without the demands of friendship."

I'm not asking you to completely unplug. I'm not asking you to delete all your social accounts. I'm just asking you to remember the most important word in Social Media, SOCIAL. You're a human, so act like it. Set the phone down and be real.
By Charleco Scipio II

Its always great seeing your peers pursue their dreams. It makes pursuing yours that much more satisfying and thrilling. It lets you know that you aren't alone in the "Dream Big" club. For us here at Flight Ave. we were founded on mutual respect of work and ambition. We came together with different gifts but similar goals and aspirations. Connecting with ambitious individuals in our generation continues to be the driving force for us.

For 2014 we brought in the New Year with Circuit Project Management Group, Morganize Photography and Peace Up. Call them friends, call them colleagues, call them associates, but we call them Family. Together with Flight Ave. these three organizations make up the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Los Angeles.

Who is YEAxLA?

Circuit Project Management Group

Let's start with Circuit Project Management Group, CPMG is a consulting firm managing original art projects of the entertainment, retail and community outreach industries. They're thorough, organized, and professional individuals with a flare for creativity and collaboration. Their creative direction will be helping many of the upcoming projects YEA will produce come into fruition.

http://on.fb.me/1gcmZi2

Morganize Photography

Then we have Morganize Photography. A freelance photographer from Los Angeles who has created her own personal brand and displays her talents through a wide range of photography based projects. Through hard work and great attention to detail her shoots just keep getting better. With Morgan's help YEA will be producing a variety of photo and video content.

http://bit.ly/1bDyDy6

Peace Up

Then there is Peace Up. Strong positive vibes are what comes to mind when I think of Peace Up. Their positive energy makes working with them a complete pleasure. This energy shows through their artistic work. With the efforts of Peace Up YEA will be able to produce wonderful video and production projects.

By Gary Lee

So every year Complex Magazine and their round table of "Knowledgeable Writers" compile a list of the best albums so far in the year 2013. Kanye West led the list with Yeezus being the number 1 album. Other names that made the list were Daft Punk, Mac Miller, J. Cole, Dom Kennedy, A$AP Rocky, Ferg, Vampire Weekend. So pretty much everyone you could think of that released good music this year even though some of the places on that list should have been drastically switched. I mean come on, Migos over Big Sean? Young Thug over Dom Kennedy, hold on who is Young Thug anyway? Thank You Complex. To make list that more of a joke Wale's 3rd album was not on the list. An album that featured over a dozen great artist, not to mention it debuted at number one, over Kanye, Cole and Mac, who all released albums on the same day and some how Wale's "The Gifted" was snubbed and wasn't mentioned on the list at all. This made many mad, most noticeably Wale himself, so he called Complex's HQ "Spazzing" and threatened the writers. For some odd reason Complex was recording the phone call and released it to the public, which could be heard at the bottom of the screen.

After watching an Interview with Wale and Hot 97, a little more light was shed on the situation. Wale explained how he feels Complex has always had it out for him ever since his small beef with then former friend, Kid Cudi in 2010. He talks about how they perpetuated the beef for more than it truly was.
I am a Wale fan, ever since the XXL cover with him, Asher Roth,Curren$y, B.o.B and everyone else who
was apart of that list. I feel that was the time I actually fell in love with the art of hip-hop. To say an obviously great album isn't a great album is ludicrous, but at the end of the day you are entitled to your own opinion but let me know yours in a comment below.

Ever just look at the kind of phone the people around you own? If it's not an iPhone, odds are it's an Android. If they aren't playing a game or reading/sending tweets or commenting on a Instagram/Facebook photo, odds are they are checking their email. And whether they are using an iPhone or working an Android, it is a strong possibility that their email provider is Google's Gmail. So then it is safe to say that they are probably synced to 1 or more additional Google Apps. Put simply : Google is easing its way into almost every part of digital and mobile life.

Google Search

If Google should go down in history for anything, it should be for their search engine. Think about it. When someone is confronted with something they don't know, they don't say "lets do an Internet search on it.". One, because that's a mouthful. And two, 9 times out of 10 the search engine they will use is Google, so they just say "Google it."

Google search can also serve as a spell-check, encyclopedia or dictionary. It can be used to find pictures of that music artist that you still have yet to actually see. Or to find the name of that one song you heard, but don't know the name of, but vaguely remember part of the lyrics to. I find my self constantly checking to see if I am spelling something right, Google Search's predictions are mostly on point. Or if you are feeling lazy you can always click on "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. I guess they figured they didn't want to actually call you lazy, plus "lucky" sounds nicer.

The Google Search Engine is very much popular. It's only real competition being Microsoft's Bing and Yahoo! Search. Yet Google will always be most peoples go to choice for a search engine because they have associated web search in general with Google.

Gmail

Perhaps a year ago you could say Hotmail or even Microsoft Outlook were the top email service providers but not this year. Gmail has certainly gone through some incredible new changes that have brought them to the forefront of the email service game. Their new inbox design takes the headache and confusion out of checking your email, allowing you to focus on what must be done. This set up is great if you use your email for multiple purposes such as personal, business, finance, etc. If you are a business owner, Gmail is the ideal route to go when considering how to keep your business connected. Gmail makes sharing information fast, fluid and efficient something critical to business success.

Google Drive

Or send the new photos you took to your editor for editing. Sync Google Drive on all your devices and your work is accessible anywhere. Type up that report on the go, review notes before a meeting. The uses are endless, it is beyond useful.

Google Calendar

Extremely useful for teams. Sync the calendar with a group and keep everyone up to date with what's going on. You can receive SMS and Email notifications and reminders. You can sync it with your phone or mobile device and have your schedule readily accessible at a moments notice. Google Calendar works well in tangent with your Gmail account making sharing easier and simpler.

Google Play

Google Play has to be one of my favorites by far. Other than the ample amount of storage, uploading songs to Google Play is effortless. With the Google Play Manager I can set it up so that it automatically uploads any song that is put into one or more selected folders. My folders are Music and Downloads so any song I download is automatically synced. And with the mobile app you can take your music anywhere. Download it at home and it will be in your Library by the time you get in the car. Google Play is great for people with large music libraries. It is also useful considering your music is on the cloud, so it is there unless you delete it and its immune to any freak accidents.

Google Maps

Face it, there are times where you don't know where you are going. Whether you are in a car, taking the bus, biking it or walking everyone could use a little direction. Google Maps is the perfect GPS tool. Find the quickest route, avoid traffic, time your travel, and never be late. You can divorce Mapquest now, and download Google Maps.
Here is the sample they released:

"We want ads to be creative and engaging, so we’re starting with just a handful of brands that are already great members of the Instagram community. If you see an ad that doesn’t interest you, you can tap the “…” below it to hide it and provide feedback about what you didn’t like. This will help us show you more interesting ads in the future...Our focus with every product we build is to make Instagram a place where people come to connect and be inspired. Building Instagram as a business will help us better serve the global—and ever growing—Instagram community, while maintaining the simplicity you know and love."

The news was received with mix reviews by users. Many users are opposed to seeing ads on Instagram. This might be due in part to the spam ads and clutter they have experienced on other apps and would explain why they fail to see the innovation behind the idea. This is essentially taking advertising to new levels and really enforces the ideal that the ad should shed more light on the product/service than itself. Having an ad on instagram would automatically mean that the ad would have to be visually stimulating to not be immediately hidden from ones feed. In a sense if the ad did not have the "sponsored" sign next to it you might not even realize it was an ad, IF it was done correctly. (Like the Starbucks Instagram Photo below)
Instagram is definitely embarking on new experiences, considering it is not too far from its release of video features. It will be interesting to see where they go with this and if advertising features will be allowed to other brands. It will be even further intriguing to see how these ads by the selected brands are received by the millions of active users.

Everyone has them. We don't all voice them. Maybe its not the right time, maybe it never will be. Some are large, others not too big. Confessions come in all forms. And after one, a feeling of relief washes over you. We all know the feeling.

Candy Chang, a Taiwanese-American artist who specializes in public art projects, created a project called "Confessions" which she hosted at the Las Vegas Hotel, the Cosmopolitan in 2012. Chang created an environment that allowed people to share their deepest confessions anonymously in individual booths, on squared slabs of wood. The slabs were put up and the good ones were painted onto a canvass. Reading through the confessions it is a nice reality check showing everyone that regardless of what you are going through, you are not alone.

I know I have. Having multiple Cards can be a hassle to some, so Kanishk Parashar created a device called Coin that allows you to store in any card with a magnetic strip into the device by simply using the coin app, taking a picture of the card numbers and you instantly save space in your wallet, but is it all worth it?

Right now you can pre-order the Coin for the price of $50.00 with its Summer 2014 retail price being 100.00. Before you get all that room ready for your wallet there's a few downsides to this device which could change in the future. For now you can only use the Coin as long as you're near your smart phone and it isn't dead, so if your phone dies get ready to wash some dishes because you will not be able to use Coin.

But will coin even make it to 2014? With no major credit card companies backing the device and not knowing if retailers would even accept the device, it's still unknown. But with $50,000 worth of pre-orders sold within the first 40 minutes of it going on sale it could be an item to look out for.

Everywhere. Musicians playing on the boardwalk every 50 steps, an artist showcasing her work, or a tattoo artist doing tatts. The art is literally on the walls, scaling the buildings, watching over this artistic town.

Take a walk towards the beautifully built skate park and you can witness for yourself raw creative talent on the wide open canvasses that sit next to it. Graffiti artists frequently come to this spot to leave their mark. When their art decays with time another artist will come to fill the slot. The canvass is never blank and it never will be as long as its sitting there in the sand.

It is never a moment of non creativity. There is always someone playing music whether it's for some pocket change or a more mellow form of greenery. Always someone sitting alone sketching, drawing or painting. You can count on seeing some dancing. The raw talent is endless.

Venice is the art town, it can only be compared to the Art District of Los Angeles. Yet it is completely different. You can feel the creative energy here. It spills through the streets, it radiates through the sand, throughout the boardwalk. It is an inspiring environment. Most people overlook the inspiring essence of this environment and instead choose to notice the more dissatisfying factors of Venice. Every place has it's good attributes and some bad. In the case of Venice, the good out weighs the bad.
Doesn't it feel great when all your friends get together and you can enjoy each others company? Or for those workaholics, isn't it great when you can meet with your business partners/colleagues, and you can get on the same page about a project? Or maybe you're a studious college student and love the productivity of a old fashion study group. Regardless of what group activity you're partaking in, the direct human contact comes to a stop at some point. Odds are you probably wont meet with them or even make contact with them until the next time you meet. Social Media, and more specifically, Facebook's Messenger App changes these dynamics completely.

It took me awhile to realize the usefulness of Facaebook Messenger in regards to groups. Like most people on Facebook, I never ventured off into group chat when it first became a feature. It wasn't until a couple a friends started a random chat that I saw how useful this can be to all types of groups, whether its a study group, business partners, or just a few friends. With the release of the Facebook Messenger App, communication is practically effortless.

The Messenger App allows you to start a group conversation with any of the people you are friends with on Facebook. 2 or more makes the group. You can then name the chat itself so the conversation is easily recognizable amongst all the other chats you may have up. The App makes messaging fast and easy, in a sense it's Yahoo Messenger and AIM made better. You can minimize the chat to a little bubble on your touch screen. You can see when your message was seen and by which members of the group (essentially holding people accountable for not responding). You can send photos and links with relative ease regardless of Android or IPhone. You also have the option of sending voice recordings, which is as close as we're going to get to the old "chirp" phones.

Another awesome feature is you can add files such as word docs with a few clicks and these docs can be easily received and downloaded by the other members. Which brings me to Business groups and In House teams. Facebook is the perfect tool to keep everybody on the same page quickly and efficiently. When running a business or a team, big or small, the speed in which information travels is very important and Facebook is providing a tool that will make things easier.

Just recently, Facebook updated their Messenger App with a sleek new look. This comes not too long after they added "Chat Heads" which reduces a chat to a little bubble on your screen. Now the app is much more efficient and much sexier.

Therefore the meeting never stops, the conversation never has to end, the sharing can continue online as it was offline. Another interesting feature to be noted is when you sync your phone (whether it be an Android or IPhone) to Facebook you now have contacts of all your friends, phone number or email or both. This is making not staying in touch practically impossible.

If someone stopped you on the street and asked you "Who do you think is the Greatest Female Artist in the world right now?" Hands down, I would say Beyonce, wouldn't you? In my eyes Beyonce has earned the name of G.O.A.T, late Dec 12, without any promotion, Beyonce released her 5th studio album that sold 80k in 3 hours and 400k in the first 24 hours, the fact that some artist never do those type of numbers in there career only proves my point. The self titled album also serves as a visual album due to every song having its own video.
The two stand out tacks to me are currently the only full length videos out right now and that's the Jay-Z featured" Drunk in Love" and the Drizzy Drake feature on a track called "Mine" with more to come in the near future.

There is a song called "Super Power" that features Frank Ocean. another song called "Flawless" featuring Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and production by Timbaland, Hit-Boy, Key Wayne and other hit producers.

CA State Law Sends Letters to 1,700 Dispensaries Telling Them To Close Their Doors

After 17 years of debate between the State and Medical Marijuana Businesses, Measure D was finally decided on by voters. The measure was voted upon on May 21, 2013 being 1 out of 3 total initiatives regarding medical marijuana businesses in the city of Los Angeles. Measure D is the ordinance

that cuts the total number of dispensaries to just the original 135 that were registered with the state back in 2007 and re registered again in 2011, making the other estimated 1,700 illegal.

Those remaining 1,700 were sent letters stating that their operation has now become illegal and that they need to shut down. But the truth of the matter is that 800+ dispensaries are still operating at this moment, in this case illegally. So what happened? Most collectives simply relocated and changed names. Others just changed names. It begs me to ask the question, is it really that simple? It seems so considering that the state isn't really cracking down, which is understandable seeing as there are hundreds of collectives across LA alone. State officials would be hard pressed to bring the hammer down on ALL of them at once. A hollow letter is hardly enough incentive to shut down business and forget about patients. The dispensaries might be getting the impression that the State is all bark and little to no bite when it comes to the mass medical marijuana business in the city. Many collectives are continuing to do as they please despite the new provisions and for some despite having a now illegal business operation.

There is no doubt that Measure D was the best choice out of the 3 initiatives voted on. It is a compromise for the time being, it is somewhat a step forward. Yet the whole issue of Medical marijuana in Los Angeles is a hot mess. The federal government still sees the plant as a Schedule 1 "illegal and dangerous", the state cant make up its mind in regards to businesses in the industry, and there are over a thousand dispensaries in LA with 10x as many patients in total. Measure D surely is not the end all.
In light of our tribute to Marilyn Monroe, the quintessential starlet, we have been on the topic of fame and fortune. In terms of music, one particular song that comes to mind is the 8th track from Wiz Khalifa's long anticipated and highly acclaimed studio album "Rolling Papers". It is the theme song to anyone who is or has been in the spotlight. It gives the essence of stardom at it's finest.

The song itself gives you the feeling of arriving at a red carpet event with all electric eyes on you. The lights are on bright and rarity radiates off you as you embrace fame. The crowd loves you. They wave, they smile. They take pictures because it really lasts longer. The song gives you your 15 minutes of fame in about 4.

Wiz Khalifa vividly expresses the pro's and cons of the game and the fame that comes with it, giving you a glimpse of the lifestyle of the rich and famous.

"The best moments of my life Never pealed this much plastic off of Polo in my life Rarely gon' to see, smoking with ya wife Plus anything you want I can afford to buy it twice"

There is no doubt that he has experienced the good and the bad of this condition that only plagues yet blesses a few. Starting from Pittsburgh in 2004 to his first album release in 2010 he has risen in the industry and made a name for himself.

Wiz Khalifa, his real name Cameron Thomaz moved around from country to country due to his parents being in the military,. At one point the young tattooed spitter lived in Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom but when his parents divorced he finally settled in the city of Pittsburgh, the place where he fell in love with hip-hop. There he attended Taylor Allderdice High School, and at the young age of 16 sold his mixtape's and featured on other Pittsburgh artist tracks. The work Thomaz put in was not over looked, it got the attention of Benjy Grinberg, Rostrum Records President. A contract was eventually signed and there, Khalifa released multiple mixtapes under the Rostrum Records banner, but none got him commercial attention like his 8th tape Kush and Orange Juice. Due to fame, success, and his number one single Black and Yellow, and ode to his hometown Wiz Khalifa was declared his own day in the city of Pittsburgh .

Not just anybody can take being a star. The saying "Everybody Is A Star" is simply being unrealistic. Even those who have what it takes to be a star may or may not be the same person when the shine wears off. It could be a good or bad change depending on the individual. Take it from Chevy Woods:

"I guess the difference is we ain't thinking the same. So if I'm guilty of change, I guess I'm the one to blame."

Anyone can aspire to reach stardom, yet most simply look at the good side, the money, the praise. The bad side gets overlooked. The fake people in real people's clothing, the sudden neediness of those around you, the criticism and judgments and most common, the envy. All this in too big of a dose can make some people go crazy. Even the great Marilyn Monroe was not all smiles behind closed doors.
A very tumultuous year for the Lakers may be coming to a close and possibly becoming one of the biggest busts in NBA history. With a 4 sure fire hall of famers the lakers came into the season as the favorite to take the crown away from King James and the Champion Miami Heat. But an early coaching change chemistry problems and a slew of injuries have the Lakers only 1 game over .500 and barely holding on to the 8th seed.
After going 11-3 following the All Star break, as quick as the Lakers convinced us they'd figured it out, they reminded us they can't be trusted. Going 5-5, including a 3 game losing streak the last 10 games has left the door ajar for the Jazz, an improving Dallas Mavericks team to knock them out of the playoff picture. But with Utah losing one of their key players, Enes Kanter, to injury plus their inconsistent play have the Mavs as the front runners to erase the Lakers from the playoff picture.

Since coach Carlisle inserted Mike James into the starting lineup he's averaging 10.3 ppg and 4.9 apg, along with Dirk Nowitzki reminding us why he was the finals MVP just 2 years ago, scoring 19.7 ppg shooting 53.8% from the field, 44.4% from 3, 95% free throws and grabbing 7.9 rpg. 5 of the Mavs last 10 games are against teams under .500 and/or at home and a game against the Lakers at the Staples Center.
With the Mavericks schedule, losing Metta world Peace for the rest of the season, and nagging injuries to Kobe and Steve Nash , Pau working himself back into form and Dwight Howard still not 100%, all working against them, it's looking like Vino's Lakeshow will be watching the playoffs from home.Flight Journalismhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12705795221124056525noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4043169348652313241.post-85209499712188101732013-03-25T09:00:00.000-07:002013-03-26T22:47:58.287-07:00The Hottest To Ever Do It And The Hottest Doing it, Jay-z And Kendrick LamarBy Gary Lee
The picture above speaks a thousand words, A picture that shows us what it would look like if a living legend like Michael Jordan was to be in the same game with one of the best that's doing it today, Kobe Bryant. At first glance you can see the look of wisdom on Jordan's face and the willingness to learn on Bryant's. If you were to convert this picture to the hip-hop world these athletes would be the greatest of all time Jay-Z and the best out today, Kendrick Lamar. That's why this picture is perfect for the B*tch' Don't Kill My Vibe Remix featuring none other than Hov himself.

Kendrick Lamar has really taken off in the hip-hop industry, I feel he's a rapper for the people, not rapping for the fame but to put his thoughts in our ears and inspire, and what better way to do it with than the god Mc, Jay-Z.

Kendrick open's the remix with the same lines from the original but then reminds us that his album went gold in a week with a Trinidad James metaphor and now its platinum:

"Look inside of my soul and you can find gold and maybe get rich, hol' up Trinidad Jame$ in four weeks But now my album platinum and shit"

Kendrick goes on to slay the Sounwave produced beat as he did in the original and other songs like Hol' Up and Micheal Jordan.

Jay-z comes in after a smooth hook and shows us why he is considered one of the best, rapping the lines:

"Up in the clouds, me and my spouse Rumors on the ground gettin' too loud Please turn them shits down, can't hear myself think Turbulence, shit, almost spilled my drink In the White House with a mink Running through that bitch like it's my house All up in the hall like a mall Told you motherfuckers, all I do is ball"

This beat has a warm feel to it and Jay-z did it justice with his cold lyrics and says he doesn't know how many years he has left but until he dies he will be the best, he ends his verse with a warning:

"Don't waste my breath I don't know how many moons a nigga got left Back to this joint, smokin' this shit like I'm tryna' prove a point I'm the highest, the highest title, numero uno Kill my vibe, that's your motherf*ckin' funeral"

This is arguably the best Jay-Z feature in recent years, his 3 Kings verse would have to come next. But Kendrick has done something that is rare, which is have a better verse than Jay-Z on a track. He took the song back in the third verse and at one point you can hear the voice of Compton in Kendrick's words

"So many washed up with detergent But I don't dry tears, I just aim at them on purpose Like bluck, Mini-14 like bluck Empty out another magazine like bluck Hit a young nigga, get back I kill 'em all when they try to kill my vibe"

and truly kills the song and firmly plants his foot through the door's of rap greatness by saying

" I am the bad, the good God, the last the hood got The last that would try to pass a good job If Shawn's a black Beatle then I need a 10 second drum solo Bitch see you at Woodstock"

If Jay-Z was a black Beatle, Kendrick would be one as well. Kendrick has really given the rap game new life, being named the hottest MC in the game, having a classic album and a Jay-Z feature, I cant help but wait until the next track to come from Kendrick.

While in a New York studio listening to ScHoolboy Q's new album Kendrick was surprised by Top Dawg, CEO of TDE with Jay-Z's verse. You can watch the video below:
Apparently creating the New World Order says DC rapper Fat Trel who has aligned himself with Atlanta rapper Alley Boy and N.O Legend, Master P to create the Louie V Mob.
I've known about Fat Trel for a little while now, first hearing him on Wale's freestyle to "Oh Let's Do It" and a little while after the two DC rappers started beefing. This DC rapper has collaborated with many rappers like Smoke DZA, Chief Keef and even the ASAP Mob. This rapper has the potential to be as big as Wale. I cant wait to see where Fat Trel is in a few years.
Last but not least the self proclaimed "Boss of All Bosses" Master "P" Percy Miller. I want to share my confused thoughts on P's decision to go this route. If I'm not wrong, last time I heard anything about Master P in hip-hop, he was trying his best to clean it up, now he's rolling with the most anti-clean rappers as possible. I'm all with the unit he has because I would like to see where The Louie V Mob stands against hip-hops cliques of today such as G.o.o.d Music, YMCMB, TDE, MMG, ect.

A show about online dating where two people fall in love online, one of the two wants to meet up and it usually turns out bad . Well the same thing happened to Notre Dame football linebacker Manti Te'o, or did it?

In September, Te'o reported that his Grandma and his girlfriend Lennay Kekua died days apart and dedicated the rest of the season to them. In his next game, he had a record 12 tackles and led his team on a 20-3 winning streak while still getting sympathy for the recent deaths in his life.
In January, word got out that Lennay Kekua was still alive but didn't even exist in the world of Manti. The pictures of the woman Manti claimed was the love of his life were really of a woman who lived in California who's name is unknown at the moment. There was no evidence of a Lennay Kekua dying anywhere , no funeral, obituary not even a mention in her school newspaper.

Later, Manti issued a statement claiming he met the girl online and fell deeply in love with her. “This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online. We maintained what I thought to be an authentic relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone, and I grew to care deeply about her. To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone’s sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating. In retrospect, I obviously should have been much more cautious. If anything good comes of this, I hope it is that others will be far more guarded when they engage with people online than I was.”
We started with this blog in which we found our selves stuck on what to put on the "About Us" page. At that time I was simply a blogger, an aspiring journalist. My supervisor, a lovely young woman who also happen to be part of UCLA's blogging operations, headed our blog until her unfortunate resignation several months later. I was then left to take hold of our blogging and social media efforts. A young writer, seemingly clueless on where to take the blog and the image of the company for that matter. Diving into a pool without knowing how to swim. Ambition along with adrenaline was and still is rushing through my veins I started to look forward with optimism as to where we could take our journalism operations as a company.

Fast forward to 2012, I got the idea to start a magazine. But not just any magazine. A magazine dedicated to youth, young adults, young entrepreneurs, freelancers and business owners that would provide them with content that is useful, valuable, informative and relevant as well as advice, insights, resources and inspiration to help grow themselves, their talents, passions, goals and businesses. I came to the realization that this is a new generation of workers and business owners, that due to the shape of the modern work place and environment aren't willing to take the risks associated with business. We cant be the only ones from our generation who aspire to be great.

So it is my great pleasure to announce that we will begin work to bring this magazine to life. It will be based online and it will be free of charge. We will be saying farewell to our blog within the next 6 months. Though we will not forget where and how we as a company started.

Stay tuned.

Being a young male in Los Angeles you get a certain style growing up around here, and there are always brands out there to help us carry that swag. Whether it be Polo, Diamond, Levi, or Nike. Yet there comes a time when a certain brand comes up and changes the style of today's culture and I feel one of the styles that's coming up comes in the form of an accessory that you rarely see, I'm talking about HUF.
With a lot of group compilations dropping lately such as the A.S.A.P. Mob's "Lords Never Worry" and MMG's "Self Made Vol 2", I feel there was no body of music with such anticipation as G.O.O.D Music's "Cruel Summer", even with the push backs, Cruel <strike>Autumn </strike>Summer still remained one of the albums I couldn't wait to get my ears on. With all honesty towards the finalized release date, with the Cover Art being released and then the track listing, I was feeling the album was going to be all hype. Only having 12 songs and 4 of them we have already heard, my anticipation quickly turned into disappointment. When I got a chance to actually listen to the record I was really impressed with the whole album. A R-Kelly feature, starting the whole album, threw me way off but in the end the track "To The World" is one of my favorites. Then came the tracks we have already been blessed with such as "Mercy", "New God Flow" and "Clique", which has a monster Jay-z feature, which he killed as usual and always proves that he's a threat in the game. The track called "The Morning" starts with Raekwon The Chef, he starts the song spitting his verse like it was a Wu-Tang song then came a Common verse "I know she wanna test the 'Rari, eye on a dollar like Illuminati" was the best line in the verse. Then came a verse from G.O.O.D Music's White Nose Candy Knight, Pusha-T, spitting fire; followed by a quick verse from the Grammy Family affiliate 2 Chainz. Next came the man who had the best verse in my eye and really proved that he's a monster with the album press, radio station freestyles and the verses he laid on this album, I'm talking about Cyhi Da Prynce. "Its tickelin', when I hear what haters be whisperin', What makes you think an Illuminati would ever let some niggas in?". Lots of "Illuminati" talk on this record. ("Illuminati In Music" article coming soon). That's just part of a very well put together album but it wasn't perfect. I was also disappointed with a few things as well. No Q-Tip??? Sometime last year it was announced that Q-Tip had signed to the label. Common only on one song? Common a G.O.O.D. Og only appeared on one song on this Comp. I was also disappointed with the track listing, only having 12 songs. Over all the album is Flight approved and should be listened to.
I would like to start this off by congratulating Kendrick Lamar for putting together probably the best album I've ever heard, as a young black male living in Los Angeles and loving my city. I understood every word that was said on this record. For the people who don't live in California, Kendrick did a good job taking their mind and ears on a ride through Compton. This album has a story that everyone who lives in a hood can relate to, from homies getting killed to just trying to hook up with the one girl from the hood. Everybody has been though a certain scenario that plays in this album. K. Dot also brings some heavy features as well, like label mate and 1/4th of Black Hippy Jay Rock, YMCMB's Drake, and Kendrick was even able to get his mentor Dr. Dre on a track entitled Compton, which is one of my favorite tracks. As the media only speaks on the negativity about Compton, Kendrick still sees the beauty in his city and prides himself and Dr. Dre for making it out and doing something with their lives.

I see this album as a movie with the picture off but the sound on. The skits in the album are perfect. Its like Boys In The Hood meets Friday. Good Kid M.A.A.D City is worth the money so go out and support the album and go get it.
No where will you find a duo like Nocturnal Youth! They are true examples of the real drive for success and trust me, they will see it very soon. Just yesterday they officially launched their kickstarter campaign for their first ever EP. One small step before we are graced with an album. But before they take that step they will be stepping on stage at Central S.A.P.C. in Santa Monica, CA on September 26. Be sure to check them out live. But as for the Kickstarter video you can check it out here! Help them reach their pledged goal of $800 before October 4th!

Check back soon for an exclusive interview with the duo and photos from their upcoming show.
Till then check out their site : NoturnalYouth.comUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4043169348652313241.post-18599124555264566482012-09-13T09:44:00.005-07:002012-09-13T09:47:10.293-07:00Ouya: Opening the MarketBy Charleco Scipio Jr.

Change is imminent. In this case we are referring to the gaming industry. You don't have to be a gamer to realize that developers and gamers are moving towards the mobile and web platforms such as the new tablets by Samsung, Android and Microsoft as well as the iPad by Apple. There has been a shift away from the television. Mainly because mobile platforms are easier and the television is too costly. Understandable. Yet Julie Uhrman (Founder) and Yves Behar (Product Designer) have found a solution. A path back to the television. Ouya.

What is Ouya?

Ouya is an open-source Android based console for the television that is way less costly than the well known consoles from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. Of course, Ouya wouldn't make a significant dent in the market with these big 3 but it does something more than that.

"The console business, as it is today, is completely closed to the independent developer." Brian Fargo (Founder, inXile)

And he's right. Developing is expensive when it comes to the television and there are obstacles to developers when it comes to this platform. What Ouya allows developers to do is rather vast. It opens up a new market for independent developers, and also it is open for hackers who want to tweak it. It not only allows the developers to build games for the t.v. but it allows them to set their own pricing with the exception that they have a part of the game that is free (like a demo). Ouya is not only a change for the gamers but it's a change for the developers who bring the games to the gamers. And since it is Android based, you are likely to see a lot of the games already in the Android market on the screen.

Kickstarter History

Not only is Ouya opening a market, it has already made history. Kickstarter history, that is, by being the second largest project with over $8 million raised and over 63,000 backers.
By Wayne LeeFor the last few years Ive been listening to this artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin named Gerald Walker. I call him an artist because he cant be classified as a rapper because he sings as well (better than Drake, but that's another conversation). Throughout my years of listening to music it never dawned on me that he wasn't signed to a label!! This artist deserves a deal if anyone does, making 2 mixtapes with Taylor Gang producer Cardo (part 2 coming later this year) and four other soulful mixtapes under his belt labels should be throwing pens at this artist, but that's just my opinion, check out Gerald Walker.
